VULNER Workshop

September 22, 2022

Luc Leboeuf, VULNER’s scientific coordinator, organizes a VULNER Workshop on September 22 and 23, 2022 in Berlin to bring together the VULNER consortium to take stock of two year’s research on the project.

A VULNER Workshop will take place on September 22 and 23, 2022 in Berlin. It will bring together the VULNER consortium members and invited experts to take stock of two year’s research on the project. The discussions will address the following questions: how and under which conditions ‘vulnerability’ assessments can support the design and implementation of humanitarian protection programmes that benefit refugees in the Global South, in a way that better considers and responds to their actual protection needs? What are the added values and risks in terms of refugee protection of developing ‘vulnerability assessments’ as part of asylum and border processes? How do/could these relate to existing refugee protection standards, and to the main life challenges encountered by refugees?

As part of the VULNER workshop, a public talk will be organized. The objective will be to take stock of the evolutions of EU migration and asylum law and policy since the adoption of the EU New Migration Pact on Asylum and Migration, while focusing on the uses of ‘vulnerability’ to guide and/or legitimize the adopted measures.
